That's all.

Better watch out, those little things are way faster than you'd think. When they came out, I think they were the fastest thing under 20k or something in that ballpark. If it's built correctly, it'll outrun a whole lot until it runs out of revs.

Nice, would probably be a close matchup.

I just found out this morning someone at my dorms has a 964 Targa.
WUT
I need to be best friends with this person.

What? Don't tell me you're scared of a couple of Darts!
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:49 |

Oh I know, my friend has an '04 that he's modded externally to look like a regular Neon. It's sleeper status yo. I can't pull on it while stock or with the Stage 1 tune. Happen to have $2 grand by any chance?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:50 |

Nah. Stock ST can't take a modded SRT-4, I've tried. -_-

I'm taking over your life again. NOW!!!!
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:51 |

Me? I've got plenty of savings stashed away, but the wagon needs coilovers, and I'm thinking maybe a more conservative tune for puddling around town. I think I can get better than 20mpg out of it average.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:51 |

That Green Dart is slow AF. That Orange one tho....
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:52 |

There isn't much else though. For some reason, all of the rich kids don't get nice cars.
The only other nice car was an old STi. But that's it.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:52 |

Don't try at an autocross either. You can hand a riced SRT-4 its head but someone who knows whats up will make that SRT chop your ass like scallions for a soup.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:52 |

Meant Neons but, is there really a difference?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:53 |

Can I haz $1k? I need a downpipe and a larger intercooler to beat this one.

Why would you buy that color? I've also seen one in a god-awful blue, like this.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:55 |

You need to get this bright yellow dart to park next to you all too. and maybe that green truck, becasue bright colors...

Because ur an attention grabbing dick? Like the actual owner of that Dart?(Or so I've been told about him...)
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:57 |
|
If you want to beat an SRT4, you'll need a bigger turbo than it has, and hella torque. They grab quick, so in a 1/4 mile race, you need to 60' that bitch quick, otherwise you have no chance.
They run out of steam around 4-5k, so you can grab it between a sloppy shift, but if it's anything like a guy I know down in Maryland, you wont catch it. His has 450HP on I believe 18psi, but I could be wrong, I haven't heard from him in a long time. Picked off an SRT-10 on the highway once. His was converted to a stock look as well, but looked funny because the SRT suspension is different.
A coilover set will run me about $1k for the wagon, then I need to do all the other suspension work too. I still need the lower control arms for the front.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:58 |

Not sure, but I've seen it haul ass out my window. It's loud, it's fast, blow-off valve and much gurgling. It'll probably deck me in the schnozz.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 10:58 |

Well you have him beat in taste anyways.

Rich kids with no rich cars? How is this?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:01 |

I don't know!!1! And it's really pissing me off. NO ONE, not even actual adults with money, have nice cars. I'm convinced no one in upstate NY likes cars. I guess they're above that sort of thing.
I went to the city's AutoX last week and only 50 cars showed up. FIFTY. In the state's Capital!!!
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:05 |

The ST's stock downpipe has this stupid bend in it(on the left), I need a new one for better air flow:
The intercooler is very small as well and a larger one would help immensely.
$400 for good downpipe(maybe catless?) + $800 for larger FMIC + $200 short ram air intake=$1200
Then I can safely run Stage 3 tune and win!!
Let's start a Help K-Roll deck Skittle in the Schnozz Fund?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:05 |

Indubitably my good sir.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:07 |

Borked first pic.
I'll make you a deal. Out of the goodness of my heart, I'll buy you that downpipe and help you install it.
In return, I want the Borla 6.1L HEMI 35mm velocity stack intake kit .
Close enough, right?

Eh....Thas a lotta monies that K-Roll cannot into affording ATM. when he has a higher paying job, maybe.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:19 |
|
Yeah, when I make a ton of money, I'll give the wagon a ton of "show car" mods, but it'll still be a DD as far as I'm concerned.
$200 for an intake? I spent $210 on a used K&N for the wagon off Amazon Warehouse deals. Came with all new mounting hardware, a brand new filter, and the plastic tube appeared to be lightly used. No reason to always buy new. Look for some used stuff to cut costs.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:21 |

What tune are you running? I've been considering one for my ST, but don't know. I'd like to do the FRPP, for warranty, but mehhhh
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:22 |

I'm running Cobb Stage 1 currently.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:23 |

That intake kit tho...Could it be used on other 'Murican V8s?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:29 |

Nice. I was considering FRPP, and Mountune, but can't decide..
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:29 |

Sure, you just get a velocity stack kit for whatever motor it is.
If you've got the dolladollabillsyo, you can also have one custom made.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:30 |

Yeah but that Silverado tho...

Ask the Focus ST forums? I did it because I got the accessport off of a friend for cheap. I've got the V2 which runs for $450 now, but I got it used for $275 so I jumped on it.
A V3 will cost you $500.

You, have given me a future plan/idea. A very evil one. A very very very very very evil one.

Nah, tho...that Ranger tho...
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:35 |

But 911SC, 944 and possible 951, and Audi TT tho...
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:36 |

Too... Ford for my tastes.
Plus I have a thing for blacked-out trucks.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:37 |

I think I know where this is going.
I'm sure they make one for the 302. Yes, you can get fuel injected kits, I strongly suggest it.
Once you go down this dark road, you learn about water and meth wet injection through the trumpets.
Because of the sync requirements of the intakes, I suggest a kit over DIY option, until you get a lot of experience with them.
Also, before you go ahead with anything, do not leave your trumpets open. Cover them. Trust no one around them. People can throw shit into trumpets and wreck a motor. One of my friend's dad said he used to run a set of trumpets, and someone threw a nut into a trumpet, and it blew right through the #2 piston.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 11:37 |

Meh... :-/

I have but only one gif that could express my feeling towards this plan:
This will be fantastic.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 18:38 |
|
You'll want to mailbox the hood as well once you get to the car part, that way you can drive the thing in the rain.
As cool as this is, you'll hydrolock yourself without a puddle in sight.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 18:43 |
|
That looks ugly....Too much stuck up the butt. :(
What is Mailboxing the hood?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 18:52 |
|
Holy shit, you actually called a Porsche ugly. I did it! I won the game!
So the hood has to be cut out in some of these in order for the trumpets to actually fit. If you watched this episode of Roadkill, Finnegan wanted to follow Gasser tradition and put a scoop over the trumpets to keep rain out (which they later drove through, so very good forethought in a build that does see street use).
Plenty of people will just put a massive bulge in the hood as some overgrown cowl, but if the trumpets aren't too tall, I fully support going to a mailbox scoop like this. It's open at the rear for intake so it doesn't drink water, but looks hella badass on the car. Cowls can look badass, but too many people have it. You should do something different.
![]() 09/02/2014 at 18:55 |
|
No I didn't I called those tube things ugly, everything else is zen sexy. So it's not a good idea to have the trumpets out while it's raining or bad weather then?
![]() 09/02/2014 at 19:29 |
|
Just out in the open. If they're covered and not in the direct path, you're fine. A drop here and there is passable. Any measurable amount of water beyond that is dangerous.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 09:01 |
|
This may be a redundant question, but how do you like the COBB Stage 1 tune? I just found someone selling an AP2 for $280, so I'm considering picking it up since it's a good price. Any disadvantages vs the AP3, except the screen size you know about? From what I hear, the COBB tune is solid and reliable, which is what I'm looking for. Any issues you've had?
![]() 09/03/2014 at 10:34 |
|
Haven't had any issues since I bought it; though I've noticed much more clutch chatter based on how you shift, but I just might be a bit sloppy and it's my fault. I love the tune, it really wakes up a stock ST, I use much more gas with it though but that's okay for the increased mid range power and torque.
I haven't had a single issue, but I'd recommend to stay away from stage 2 and 3 until you get a downpipe and larger FMIC; or so I've been told.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 11:09 |
|
I've heard the same thing, minus the clutch chatter. That's one thing that makes me a wee bit nervous, but maybe it's just on your car? I'm trying SO HARD not to buy things right now, but this is goddamn tempting.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 11:33 |
|
I mean it could be just mine, but I've heard it from others on the forum. Realistically, I shouldn't have bought it when I did, but it was worth it as I believe when a superb deal is around to jump on it.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 11:57 |
|
Shouldn't have bought it? Why not? Also, you've heard the chatter due to the COBB tune specifically, tunes in general or just happening stock? Or all of the above?
![]() 09/03/2014 at 12:37 |
|
Money was a tad bit scarce at the time I bought it. I can here slight chatter without the tune, but the tune makes it more prevalent.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 12:41 |
|
Ah I see. If you couldn't tell, I'm a nervous buyer / modder. hah. Alright, well. This seems to be a pretty dope deal so.....
![]() 09/03/2014 at 12:48 |
|
Are you buying the one for sale on the Forum?? APV2?
And I'm a nervous modder as well, but let me put it into perspective:
I dropped in the FRPP Exhaust and APV2 within the first month 1/2 of ownership. I was just like "phuckit" and decided to do it with warranty in mind. Nothings gone wrong yet and I'm nearing oil change #2 at 8500 miles since I've owned it the past 7 months.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 13:10 |
|
Yep haha. That's the one. Yeah... AFAIK, it's really tough for conservative tunes like this to actually do harm to the engine. Also, they have to prove that without a doubt it caused harm. It's really hard to NOT modify this car haha.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 13:19 |
|
Exactly, and you can just take the tune off when you go to the dealer for anything.
![]() 09/03/2014 at 13:26 |
|
Bingo. How do you like the FRPP? I'd love an exhaust with a nice deep tone
![]() 09/03/2014 at 13:28 |

You've heard my sound clips right?

I have the FRPP tune and I love it. When I drove it off the Ford service lot, the car had loads more torque which feels better than HP. Passengers get firmly planted into their seats.
